Paul asks…

Yugioh – Winged Dragon of Ra LEGAL?

Well the legal version from jump.. its effect is a bit out of order on the wording… ”This card cannot be Special Summoned. You must Tribute 3 monsters to Normal Summon this card (you cannot Set this card). The Normal Summon of this card cannot be negated. When this card is Normal Summoned, Spells, Traps and other monsters’ effects cannot be activated. When this card is Normal Summoned, you can pay Life Points so that you only have 100 left, to have this card gain ATK and DEF equal to the amount of Life Points paid. You can pay 1000 Life Points to select and destroy 1 monster on the field.”

Can ra use its effect of paying 1000 life to destroy a monster BEFORE useing its effect to increase its attack? If you can’t.. does this card even have a purpose..? lol

Potter answers:

Nope. That’s one of the main reason it sucks.

Why the legal Ra sucks.

1) As you mention. You have to pick between gaining the ATK/DEF or the pay 1000 to destroy something.

2) Unlike the video game versions and the show, notice how there is no part in its effect where it gains the ATK/DEF of the monsters tributed. Thus, unless they pick to errata the card, you will seriously have a Level 10 0/0 that took 3 Tributes unless you pay the LP to have it gain ATK/DEF.

3) Cannot be Special Summoned. This pretty much makes it a dead card after the other flaws.
