But I really missed it. I missed that soothing rush I would get when I started to feel the buzz, and that floating feeling I would get in my hands. I even missed the smell. I guess I was kind of walking a thin line anyway. All I had to do to lose my job was miss one more even half day since I had missed so much already, my girl was sick of the people that would traipse through the house selling or buying, and one more possession bust just wouldn’t be good for me.

But, yeah I still missed the high. On the advice of a friend, I checked out some legal alternatives to weed. Actually, it was pretty cool because a couple of us went in on buying enough for a sampling party. We all kicked back with our new legal buds and had a blast. I can’t say it was the exact same high you get from smoking, but it was a really cool experience because your buzz with is different with each herb.

I don’t need to worry about that third possession charge. I still have to worry about getting out of bed to go to work, but that’s because I really can’t say I want to work at all not from sleeping off a good buzz.

With fewer worries and a more carefree lifestyle these days, I still get the social benefits of smoking without the same legal risks. It’s not a bad deal overall. I know that some of my friends are a little hesitant to make the switch, but those who have seem happier and less stressed too. We can all still get together, gather our favorite munchies, and hang for a few hours just doing our thing so my friendships haven’t suffered at all.

I guess going the legal alternatives to weed way has kind of made me a better mate. Seems like there are fewer fights and I seem to “forget” things less often. My girl is really happy about the money we’re saving ( legal buds are less expensive) and I don’t end up feeling like I sacrificed anything. I know that it has been ranked 4th on the site as the favorites go, but I think that might be just a little unfair. I’ve known some people that feel nothing more than relaxed and can perform normal every day functions without incident. I have known others who become the entertainment of the day until they eat themselves silly and pass out in the nearest convenient space. Court documents show police found bags of marijuana, rolling papers, cash, and a plant that seemed to be recently pulled from the ground.

He’s charged with driving under the influence and possession, but Henry says the case should be thrown out.

Why?

Because he’s a member of the Hawaii Cannabis Ministry.

Henry’s attorney, George Marros, says, “Our position is if you’re part of this particular religion, you’re able to use marijuana for personal use, same thing Catholics would use wine for their sacraments.”

Cumberland County’s District Attorney, Dave Freed, calls the defense a novel one.

“My estimation is that is takes a certain amount of chutzpah to file something like this,” Freed says.

The Hawaii Cannabis Ministry is an organization that claims to celebrate “the constitutional right to practice cannabis spirituality”.

It also claims on its website that ordering a $250 “Sanctuary Kit” will protect your use of cannabis sacrament in any of the 50 United States and elsewhere throughout the world.

Freed isn’t so convinced.

“I’m not familiar with any cases, and we’ve done some research, allowing use of marijuana for religious purposes,” he says.

Henry’s attorney admits the defense is a new one, but maintains his client’s religious beliefs – no matter what they are – should be protected.

“We’re not allocating full-blown marijuana use that you can go on the street corner and sell marijuana to anybody. It’s for personal use, per your religion and that’s what we’re limiting our position and our argument to.”

The Hawaii Cannabis Ministry also advises followers to keep a copy of their ministry identification card on them at all times.

There’s no mention in court documents that Henry told officers the drugs were part of his religious beliefs.

In fact, there is question as to when Henry joined this religious group – his attorney wouldn’t say if it was before or after this arrest.

The motion to dismiss these charges will be heard in court next month.

That’s right, an hour to reach your head – maybe more – as your stomach first needs to digest the food in which the marijuana/cannabis is contained. However, once the hit arrives, it will be much stronger than for smoking an equivalent amount of pot, basically because you get 100% of it rather than losing quite a lot in the smoke and ash.

I advise eating it only with some discretion, particularly for the inexperienced user. Let someone experienced, who you trust, help you with preparation the first time so you can judge the strength, and will be on hand if your high gets too intense. The point being that unlike smoking, you can’t just stop. Once you’ve taken it, you’ve taken it, and you just have to see it through.

Don’t let that put you off eating it, however. Because it is an “invisible” hit, you can take it then just forget about it, and as long as the dose is right, just relax and enjoy the high. There are also some very tasty recipes around, and cannabis actually tastes quite nice in its own right! Add fruit and nuts ( see recipe below) for tea time treats.

Eating marijuana is also the healthiest method of taking the drug. You just need to be careful, that’s all, and the best recommendation there is to not take any more on top of what you’ve taken, until that high has arrived – don’t be impatient, it will come within an hour or so. If it hasn’t by then, question what you’ve been eating! Also, don’t mix it with alcohol.

As I said, it is healthier, and acceptable to those with strong objections to smoking. You can take some and then go out for the evening while the high comes up, thus getting high in public (a rare pleasure for some – though would cause great paranoia in others). There are many different ways of preparation so even those who treat some with distaste would probably like others.

Cannabis is not dangerous, even if you take too much – there’s no such thing as an “overdose” (you need to take about 10,000 times as much cannabis as it takes to get you high to be reaching potentially fatal levels – the equivalent with alcohol is as little as 10 times). But a deep hit from eating too much can be quite unpleasant – at the same time it can be quite mind-bending in the best sense of the word. Do it at your own risk, but don’t run scared of it either.
